About Me
After the birth of my first son, I realized how the experience can change a woman for the better. It’s not just about becoming a mother and loving this new being in your arms, but also the accomplishment of giving birth. I felt that my own process of giving birth was a right of passage into motherhood. I suddenly knew my own strength and felt that I could do things I had never had the courage to do before. I want to be a guide for women and their partners through this awesome event that birth is. Hopefully, I can help women to find their inner strength, and the joy in the process of birth. I am committed to showing up for the birth experience that each individual woman or couple chooses. I want my clients to feel fully informed, supported and respected so they can make the birth choices that are right for them, and have a positive and memorable birth.
Training and Certification
I completed my birth doula training at Seattle Midwifery School in 2004. I am a certified birth doula through PALS Doulas (Pacific Association for Labor Support) and DONA International. In 2006 I completed training as a childbirth educator at Seattle Midwifery School and was employed at Swedish Medical Center as a birth and family educator for three years. I am a certified childbirth educator with Lamaze International. Last year I joined the faculty of Bastyr University as a doula instructor. I regularly attend continuing education sessions through various organizations in order to improve and update my skills as a doula, childbirth teacher, and doula instructor.
